Terms of service
Last updated: 18 October 2026
1. Who provides the service
DocuStride is an independent service, currently run by its founder as a private project; no company has been registered yet. When a company is registered, it will take over the service and these documents, and we will tell you by email. Contact: support@docustride.com. In these terms, "we" and "us" mean the provider of DocuStride, and "you" means the business or organisation that uses it, and the person accepting these terms on its behalf.
2. The service
DocuStride adds QR codes, watermarks and microtext to documents in your DocuWare system when your DocuWare workflows call it, and saves the result as a new version of the document. It is currently in beta, and the beta terms apply in addition to these terms. We may improve, change or remove features over time.
3. Business use only
The service is for businesses and organisations, not for consumers. By creating an account you confirm that you use it for your work or business and that you may accept these terms for your organisation.
4. Your account
- Give correct information and keep your password, recovery codes and API key confidential. You are responsible for activity under your account and API key.
- Create a new API key at once if you think it has been exposed, and tell us about any misuse you notice.
5. Price
The service is currently free of charge. DocuStride may introduce paid plans after the beta. We will tell you by email at least 30 days before anything becomes paid, we never charge automatically, and you decide whether to continue. If you do not agree to a paid plan, you can keep using any free plan we then offer, or close your account.
6. Plans and limits
- A transaction is one service (QR code, watermark or microtext) applied to one page. Applying two services to the same page counts as two transactions; applying a service to every page of a document counts one transaction per page. Failed calls and connection tests are not counted. The test document from the setup counts as a test transaction (see below), not towards your plan.
- When your plan's monthly limit is reached, further documents are not changed until the next month or until you move to a bigger plan. We email you at 80 % and 100 %.
- Test transactions (calls marked as tests, and every transaction on the Lite plan) come out of the plan's monthly test allowance. Each document they process carries a visible "SAMPLE" watermark. When the allowance is used up, test calls are refused until the next month.
- Documents can be up to 50 MB and 500 pages, and each account has up to 5 documents processed at the same time. We may adjust these limits to keep the service fast for everyone.
7. Your responsibilities
- You decide which documents are sent to the service, what is added to them (for example names or other personal data in a watermark), and which workflows use it. You are responsible for having the right to process those documents and data, and for the result being suitable for your purpose.
- Keep version management switched on in your file cabinets: the service always saves a new version, so the previous version stays available in DocuWare. Check the result on samples before using a workflow in production.
- QR codes, watermarks and microtext are visible marks that help identify documents and discourage misuse. They are not digital signatures and no guarantee against copying or forgery, and we are not responsible for the legal effect of a marked document.
8. Your data and documents (data processing terms)
Your documents remain yours. When we process personal data in them on your behalf, we act as your processor (Art. 28 GDPR), and these points form our data processing agreement:
- We process documents only to carry out your workflow's request, as described in the privacy policy, and do not store them.
- Only we can access the service, and only as far as needed to run and support it; we keep that access confidential.
- We protect the data with the security measures described in the privacy policy, and tell you without undue delay about a breach that affects it.
- Microsoft (Azure) and Cloudflare (website protection) are our sub-processors. We tell you at least 30 days before adding or replacing one, so you can object or close your account.
- We help you answer requests from people whose data you process, and give you the information you need to show that these terms are followed.
- When your account is deleted, your data is deleted as described in the privacy policy.
9. Acceptable use
Do not use the service for unlawful content; to make forged documents or to mislead anyone about a document's origin or authenticity; to overload, probe, attack or reverse-engineer the service; to get around limits (for example with several accounts); or to resell it without our written agreement.
10. Our software and your feedback
The service, its software and the DocuStride name and logo belong to us; you may use the service as these terms allow. If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them to improve the service, without obligation to you.
11. DocuWare and other services
DocuStride is independent and not affiliated with or endorsed by DocuWare GmbH. The service depends on your DocuWare system and on Microsoft Azure; we are not responsible for their availability, changes or errors, or for the settings of your workflows.
12. Availability and support
We work to keep the service available, but we do not guarantee that it is uninterrupted or error-free. Planned maintenance is announced in advance where possible. Support is by email; we answer as soon as we can.
13. The service is provided "as is"
As far as the law allows, the service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. This applies especially during the beta and on free plans.
14. Limitation of liability
As far as the law allows: we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, revenue, business or data, or business interruption; and our total liability for all claims together is limited to the amount you paid us for the service in the 12 months before the claim, or 100 US dollars if that is higher. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as for fraud or intent.
15. Your responsibility towards us
If someone makes a claim against us because of documents or data you processed with the service, or because you broke these terms, you are responsible for it and for our reasonable costs of defending it.
16. Suspension and ending
- You can stop using the service and delete your account at any time under Settings. Remember to delete the App Registration in DocuWare as well.
- We may suspend or close an account straight away if it breaks these terms, puts the service or others at risk, or if the law requires it. Otherwise we tell you first.
- We may stop offering the service, or a part of it, with at least 30 days' notice by email.
- When an account is closed, its data is deleted as described in the privacy policy. Sections 7, 10 and 13 to 18 continue to apply.
17. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change reduces your rights or adds costs, we tell you by email at least 30 days before it applies. Other changes apply when you accept them; we ask you to accept the current terms the next time you sign in.
18. General
These terms (with the privacy policy and the beta terms) are the whole agreement between us about the service. If one part is not valid, the rest still applies. Neither of us is responsible for delays caused by events outside reasonable control. We may transfer these terms to a company that takes over the service; we tell you when that happens. Notices are sent by email. These terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates, and disputes go to the competent courts of the United Arab Emirates.
