What is DocuStride?

DocuStride adds QR codes, watermarks and microtext to documents in your DocuWare system. Your DocuWare workflow calls it, and seconds later the document is saved as a new version with the change.

How does it work?

1. Connect your DocuWare once (an App Registration and a web service, about 5 minutes). 2. Try it on a document straight away. 3. Add a Web service step to your workflows; our tutorials show you how. Documents then get their QR code, watermark or microtext automatically, as a new version.

What does it cost? Will it stay free?

Lite is always free. During the beta you can unlock Pro for free by joining our beta program. DocuStride may introduce paid plans after the beta. We will tell you by email at least 30 days before anything becomes paid, we never charge automatically, and you decide whether to continue.

Which DocuWare versions are supported? What about on-premises?

DocuWare Cloud (version 7.11 or newer). Support for on-premises DocuWare is coming soon; send us a message and we'll let you know when it's ready.

Is it secure? Do you need my DocuWare password?

No password is ever shared. You connect through DocuWare's own App Registration and sign in on DocuWare's page; we keep only an encrypted token, and you can revoke it in DocuWare at any time.

Do you store my documents?

No. Documents your workflows send are processed in memory and returned to DocuWare as a new version. We keep only usage details (time, outcome, document ID), never the content. Only files you attach to a support request yourself are kept, until 90 days after it is closed.

Where is my data hosted?

On Microsoft Azure in the EU. Account and usage data are stored there; documents are never stored. The privacy policy explains the details.

What can the QR code contain?

A link from an index field (e.g. to the document or a portal), or several index values combined with a template like {InvoiceNo} {Date}. You choose the page, position and size, and can add a caption.

What watermarks are possible?

Any text, e.g. CONFIDENTIAL or "Copy for {Customer}" with values from index fields: diagonal, tiled or at one spot, in your colour, size, angle and transparency.

What is microtext?

Very small repeated text (about 1 point) along a border, line or band. It looks like a thin line and reads under a magnifier on the printed original; on most photocopies and scans it becomes hard to read, which helps tell paper originals from copies. It discourages copying but is no guarantee against forgery.

Does it work with scans and images?

Yes. TIFF, JPG and documents made of several files are converted to PDF by DocuWare itself, then stamped and saved as one PDF version.

Is this a digital signature?

No. DocuStride adds visible marks: a QR code, a watermark and microtext. Together they give each document an identity you can see and scan (for example its number and a link to its record). It does not create digital signatures, it is no guarantee against forgery, and it leaves existing signatures untouched unless you allow a change.

What about digitally signed PDFs?

Signed PDFs are left unchanged by default, because any change breaks the signature. You can allow it explicitly if you really want to.

Is the original document kept?

Yes. Every change is checked in as a new version of the same document, so the original stays in DocuWare's version history.

What counts as a transaction?

One service on one page. A QR code on page 1 counts as one; a QR code and a watermark on the same page as two; a watermark on every page of a 100-page document as 100. Failed calls, DocuWare's Test connection and Try it now are never counted.

What are test transactions?

Free transactions for building and trying workflows. Each workflow step says in its body whether it is a test: with "Mode": "test" the document gets a light SAMPLE watermark and doesn't use your production transactions; "Mode": "live" counts towards your plan. Same web service and API key for both, and the designers have a Live / Test switch. Lite includes 200 a month (every Lite call is a test), Pro 200 and Business 500.

What happens when I reach my limit?

We email you at 80 % and 100 % of your monthly plan. At the limit, further documents are not changed until next month or until you move to a bigger plan; your workflow receives the reason.

Are there limits on document size, or on how many documents run at once?

Yes, to keep the service fast for everyone. A document can be up to 50 MB and 500 pages; larger ones are left unchanged and not counted, and your workflow receives the reason. Each account has up to 5 documents processed at the same time; more wait their turn for up to 30 seconds, so a busy workflow simply goes a little slower. If one still can't get its turn, it is refused without being changed or counted, and a retry in the workflow's error branch takes care of it. Normal business documents are far below these limits.

How do I get started?

Create a free account, and the setup guides you through connecting DocuWare in about 5 minutes. Then try it on one of your documents right away.

Can I try it without DocuWare?

Yes: create a free account and open the designers. They show exactly how the QR code, watermark or microtext will look on your own PDF, right in your browser (nothing is uploaded). You can also see examples on the Services page.

How do I cancel or delete my account?

You can stop at any time: delete the App Registration in DocuWare to stop access at once, and delete your account under Settings in your account. That removes your account and its data straight away, except the few records the privacy policy lists (for example the security log for 180 days), and backups, which are overwritten within 7 days.

How fast do you answer?

By email, as soon as we can. When you send us a message (on the Contact page or with the Questions? button), you get a reference number and a private link to our answer.
